The journey continues, but much like in a game of Snakes and Ladders, I’ve ended up back at square one. Moonstrive Media and YouGrow Promo turned out to be nothing but “fluff” platforms—whether it was haphazardly run campaigns or views and streams coming from people paid a pittance to click.
I’m feeling a bit discouraged, but I’m going to keep pushing forward. I’m taking a harder path now, but even Hannibal crossed the Alps with his army and elephants to invade Italy, and he succeeded. Sometimes the most treacherous and impassable routes turn out to be the winning ones; who knows, maybe my luck is about to change.
I’m ditching both platforms, so my numbers are going to drop drastically. But I need a real fanbase; my funds aren’t infinite, and nobody ever finances a damn thing for me. Besides, if the fanbase is fake, who’s going to invest in me anyway?
Alright, let’s move on. A new beginning. I’m going to take April and May to run new promotions on my best tracks from the past few months. The platform I’m switching to is very selective, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Truthfully, I expected something more concrete by this point. I know I only recently started, but I’m disappointed. Maybe it’s just another sign from the universe telling me to give up, and for the umpteenth time, I refuse to listen. I refuse to resign myself to defeat.
Anyway, I won’t write much today. Yesterday I finished arranging the latest backing tracks, and starting today, I have to focus on the lyrics. That’s always been my Achilles’ heel since I’m not a native English speaker. I just hope I can create something convincing! The tracks sound interesting to me; let’s just hope I’m not the only one who thinks so.
To wrap this up, a word of advice to the new generation entering the music world: avoid promoters like Moonstrive Media, YouGrow, or anyone on Fiverr. You’re just wasting your money.
All the best!
