Salve a tutti,
It’s absolutely brutal here in Rome. The heat is killing me. It’s so bad it’s made me wonder about my origins. My ancestors must have come from Eastern or Northern Europe because I can handle the cold just fine, but the heat absolutely devastates me, both physically and mentally. It kills my motivation to do anything, even masturbate. I can’t sleep for shit. It’s a tragedy. Ideally, I’d live in Rome from November to early May, then in Helsinki from mid-May to late August, and in Dublin from September to late October. But right now, I don’t have the money for those luxuries. Fuck the heat!
Anyway, we left off with my promise to talk about mystical activities like tarot, palmistry, “leaves of destiny,” and let’s throw in white magic, too.
Leaves of Destiny
I’ve put the leaves of destiny at the bottom of my list for credibility, no matter how fascinating they might be. The readings are usually generic or open to interpretation, especially the predictions. They’re never specific, and when they are, they’re almost always wrong. For example, they told me I’d work as a herbalist, a gold merchant, and something to do with iron. Well, I’m still unemployed! They also said I’d have three kids—I don’t have a single one, and I never will. The only thing they got right was that my dad would get a state contribution, the disability allowance. But that feels like a forced interpretation. Another thing they got right was that my dad would die before my mom. But the timing was off, since they said my mom would pass away four years later, but when she died, it hadn’t even been four months since my dad passed. The Indian charts also said I’d have my mom live with me and my family, but I was already living with her and I’ve never had a family, so that’s another bunch of bullshit.
I don’t know, they’re the most disappointing to me. But if the goal is to cheer yourself up and ease the problems of daily life, then by all means. When I had my reading, I was very curious, but if someone asked me now if I’d do it again, I’d see it as a waste of time.
Tarot
In third place, I put the tarot cards. While they might be seen as quackery, they’re much more accurate than you’d think. You have to see them as an oracle. You ask the oracle a pressing question, and it gives you an answer. Of course, there are better card readers than others. Some people are also psychics, and those are the best. When a reading comes true, there’s always the objection: “How can you say the reading didn’t influence you and push you to make it happen?”
Once, I ran into an old classmate from university on the street. I always liked her a lot, so I went for a reading about some other issues I was facing and I asked, “Will I ever see this person again?” The answer was, “No, maybe by pure chance you’ll meet her one more time and that’s it! Don’t waste too much time on it because it wouldn’t lead to anything good or useful for your life.” And that’s exactly what happened. I never saw her again. I asked about other people too, and almost all the answers were negative. I tried to collaborate with one person multiple times, to get into their good graces… nothing! They never paid me much attention, and now I don’t even talk to them anymore because they don’t even reply to my messages, so I’m not wasting my time writing to them. I’d say tarot gets a pass from me.
Palmistry
In second place, I put palmistry. I remember the last time I had a reading was in 2018, and the palm reader told me, “You have five favorable years for your work ahead of you. After that it won’t go badly, but the next five years will be great for creating and starting new things, etc.” Naturally, the only thing I’ve ever thought of as “work” is music, and sure enough, in these five years, I’ve composed a lot, and some of the songs are very interesting. They got it wrong on the love front, but everything else has been accurate so far. I also recommend palmistry; it’s fun and exciting!
White Magic
In first place, I put white magic. If you have something propitiated or asked for, a mechanism of supernatural forces is created around your life. But I still don’t know the cost, I only know the financial one. Some people think it works like a system, and in a system, you need balance. So if you ask for a gain on your side, a loss is created somewhere else. The way they see it, it’s an option that should only be done as a last resort, when you have nothing to lose. I don’t even know if it requires sacrifices or what they are. White magic is supposed to be harmless, but there are always purification rituals with salt because evil spirits are always around and always attracted to such rituals. And just imagine black magic!
As I read in a book on divination, if you ever want to try it, turn to people in the field. You might see it as a bunch of bullshit, but if something were true, you’d risk screwing up your life with no chance of return. All the more reason not to get into it if you think it’s bullshit. Again, if you want to use it, ask people in the field and have them explain the whole process, the risks, and so on. You need intermediaries to ask for such favors, and you can’t just improvise. But if you’re one of those people who considers all these things bullshit, all the better, you’ll never have problems. In any case, don’t practice magic on your own, you never know.
To wrap things up, do you want to try the leaves of destiny, tarot, or cartomancy? Go for it. They are fascinating, curious, and exciting activities, but keep a healthy distance. Otherwise, you’ll get to a point where you won’t do anything without getting a reading of some kind. And between you and me, a tarot reading is better than asking ChatGPT for everything. At least with the first one, you can hope that an oracle really exists that can advise you. ChatGPT is just “a+b=c”—please don’t use it to figure out how to act with a person! Oh, and I repeat: White magic only through professionals! Black magic is your business… but always through professionals!
Until next time.
