Here in Rome, the muggy heat has arrived—the usual muggy heat. I’ve already had to switch to wearing only white t-shirts during the day, otherwise I’d literally evaporate. June is just around the corner and, according to numerology, it’s the month for new beginnings, at least as far as I’m concerned. That’s why I’ve been practically standing still for two months… actually, I tried to promote two tracks I released in the past, but I didn’t get great results. On June 5th, “I want some Action” will be released. In my “month 1,” I’m putting out a “track 1” according to the Kabbalah. Will it lead to something? I don’t know, but I’m using every kind of self-delusion just to keep going. If AI is churning out tracks that are better recorded and mixed than mine, what chance do I even have of breaking through? I could bank on creativity, but will that be enough? Who cares in the end, though I remain skeptical—I’ll just throw more money away to promote songs that will only be listened to during the promotional period. That’s the bitter truth.
Because of this, I’m currently comforting myself with archery and video games, amidst a swear word or two there as well. In archery, I was trying to find a compromise to shoot at both 18 and 50 meters, and in the end, after many frustrating attempts, I solved it by buying new shafts and new points from the same brand I had for the 18 meters. I cut them shorter than the 18-meter ones and lightened the points; now they are only 110 grains, whereas the 18-meter ones are 120. This is yet more proof that you have to invest and take risks in your passions—you have to be bold because passions are the fuel for living; without passions, you lose everything. Passions must give you satisfaction, otherwise they are useless. Composing gives me a lot of satisfaction. Of course, looking at the results I’ve achieved so far, they are quite disappointing, but creating a song from scratch and listening to it once it’s finished is worth the sacrifices made to scrape together and set up the studio and the gear I use to compose.
I’d like to recommend a game called “Rush Rally”—really great entertainment for anyone who loves rally racing and drifting, even though I was actually looking for something similar to TOCA 2, a track racing game on PS2, but I haven’t found anything quite like it. This one comes a bit close, but TOCA was more complex. I still remember the name of my alter ego, Miguel Antonio Raffoso—he was Spanish! My current one is Julian Rada, Belgian. I’m also playing TopSpin (pretty nice) and MotoGP 20. I downloaded Ride 3, Mafia: Definitive Edition, and Mad Max, which I’ve never played until now. I should manage to take the release of my new tracks lightly from here on out, or at least I hope so. Talk soon.
